Week I - A Favorite Place
My favorite place would have to be Snowbird Glacier on a sunny August day. Any Alaskan glacier amazes me though, as I love the sense of history, motion and impending danger that are inherent in such a mass of glacial ice. Considering each may have its' own intrinsic rivers, nunataks and moulins - that often drop to icy depths hundreds of feet below the glacier's surface - there's no place quite like an Alaskan glacier up close. I couldn't locate any photos of the glaciers I love so I posted a picture of another favorite place - the view from my backyard on the shores of Neklason Lake, pictured above.
